A busy day as lots of people come into the gallery space at the Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery to see the show on the first day. I am told lots of people are taking pictures of the exhibition and sharing them on their friends and family Facebook with the question 'I think this is you, is it?' |
 |
For sure I'm on the wrong side of the camera but great that ITV News Anglia featured my exhibition 'New Town Youth 1985' broadcast the day before the opening. Video journalist Stuart Leithes taking the time to hunt out the exact places I took pictures back in 1985 to create a couple of terrific ' before and afters' for his piece. It was quite nerve-racking to finally see the prints and the text panels after they were delivered to the gallery from the printers, One Word Graphics. I was worried that producing prints, some as large as AO, from 35mm negatives shot on HP5 and often push processed, the images might be too grainy. I didn’t need to worry, they look great. |

There is no better way of seeing what something will look like than creating it for real albeit at home on the wall with Verity and a glass of wine or two. Checking the scale of the images and what they'd look like if the exhibtion were to be designed in layout format. How does the eye flow across them? Where should the eyeline be? Do the images clash with one another? How big should the text and the text panels be? Too big and they domintae the smaller images, too small and it can't be read. |
